Martha McSally and was included in the Fiscal Year 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act signed into law at the end of 2020, would create a pilot program to allow pre-cleared Mexican visitors with a valid Border Crossing Card to travel statewide—to the Greater Phoenix metro and Flagstaff, for example—without having to fill out an additional paper I-94 form or pay an extra fee. The change would remove regulatory barriers that previously prevented card holders from traveling to popular tourist destinations such as Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Under current law, a Border Crossing Card holder entering through Nogales is only permitted to travel as far as Tucson, limiting business and recreational opportunities in the central and northern parts of Arizona.

Removing the 75-mile border zone limit would reduce border wait times and attract affluent Mexican visitors to a wider array of tourist destinations within Arizona, fostering statewide economic growth, productivity, and commerce. A Maricopa Association of Governments report predicted that extending the travel limit to the entire state could generate up to $181 million in additional spending each year, and support more than 31,000 jobs.

During Stanton’s time as Phoenix mayor and chair of the Maricopa Association of Governments, expanding the Border Crossing Card program was the group’s top legislative priority. My hope with this bill is to remove the stigma around seeking mental health support, and ensure our first responders have access to quality, confidential counseling services—leading to better policing,” said Stanton.

The bill, which Stanton cosponsored and worked to pass through the House, encourages the adoption of law enforcement peer counseling programs across the country and protects the privacy of federal officers as they seek mental health support. Critically, this bill would ensure that the information disclosed during peer support counseling sessions by federal law enforcement officers is kept confidential, while excepting admissions of criminal conduct or threats of serious physical harm or death, including suicide.

A recent survey of law enforcement officers by the Fraternal Order of Police and NBC New York revealed that 73 percent of respondents found peer support programs to be the most helpful mental health resource. John McCain and Rep. Trent Franks—the bill had not earned a committee hearing or vote in either the House or Senate until Stanton aggressively pushed for the effort to move forward.

“For far too long, northwestern Arizonans have been victimized and forgotten by the federal government,” said Stanton. “Congress has the opportunity, and the responsibility, to deliver justice—but time is running out.”

"It's illogical to deny RECA coverage to the 2 counties closest to the atomic blasts! Jean believes she and her family were exposed while living in Las Vegas during the testing in the 1950s, as well as in Mohave County during the mid-1950s to 1960s.

"Since 1990, partial restitution has been available for certain eligible individuals under the RECA. While the program has provided tens of thousands of well-deserving individuals with compensation, other equally-deserving citizens of Clark and Mohave counties have been shut out of the program. The Downwinders Parity Act of 2021 will right the wrongs that ripple through the communities in these counties that have been tragically impacted by our government's nuclear program,” said Laura Taylor, an attorney in Prescott who has been processing claims through the Radiation Exposure Compensation Program for the past 18 years for those individuals who are eligible for compensation.

Stanton has fought for this expansion throughout his two terms in Congress, introducing similar legislation last term and pushing the solution as an amendment in the 2021 and 2022 National Defense Authorization Acts.

In March, at Stanton’s urging, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the impacts of radiation exposure for Downwinders––the first time in two decades that victims in the Southwest were given an opportunity to speak before a House committee on the urgent need for justice for their communities.

Video of Stanton’s remarks during the Judiciary Committee’s markup of the bill is available HERE.

The bill now heads to the full House for consideration.

Background

The United States government conducted nearly 200 atmospheric weapons development tests as part of Cold War security from 1945 to 1962—an era when other nations also engaged in nuclear weapons testing and proliferation. These tests exposed thousands of Americans to cancer-causing ionized radiation from nuclear fallout.

When the injuries were discovered, Congress attempted to make amends on behalf of the nation by passing the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) to establish a trust fund for partial restitution to individuals who have contracted certain cancers and other serious diseases that can be directly attributed to the radiation exposure from the nuclear weapons testing.

Unfortunately, that bill included serious boundary flaws that have prevented otherwise eligible Arizonans from receiving justice and the compensation to which they are entitled. Americans that reside in counties in close proximity to where the testing occurred are excluded from this program for no logical scientific reason, specifically residents in Mohave County, Arizona and Clark County, Nevada.

The serious effects of exposure to low doses of radiation can be unpredictable, but incredibly harmful. All right-thinking people condemned that then, and they should condemn the Democrats now for their violation of free speech.

The actual inciters and promoters of violence are Democrats like Maxine Waters who asked an angry mob to run Trump supporters out of town, or Vice President Harris, who helped raise bail money for violent arsonists so they could be sprung from prison only to burn more property. On May 30, 2020, according to Reuters, 13 Biden campaign staff donated money to bail out criminals so they could return to the streets. As a devoted public servant and valued neighbor, C.T Wright will be remembered for his great passion for his family, education, faith, freedom, and human rights. He leaves behind a great legacy that has reached communities across Arizona. He was a thoughtful, compassionate, and kind man who always cared for others while ensuring a good future for all. C.T. Wright served countless communities unselfishly and served as great leader,” said Rep. Schweikert.

Background

This legislation would dedicate a United States Postal Office in Dr. C.T. Wright’s honor, for his distinguished achievements and contributions to countless Arizona communities.

Dr. C.T. Wright graduated with a B.S. from Fort Valley State University before earning his M.A. from Clark Atlanta University and his PhD from Boston University. As both a teacher and administrator, Dr. Wright was passionate educator, bringing his expertise to many of the country’s historically black colleges. In the years following his time teaching, Dr. Wright shifted his focus more broadly to help with human rights. He was the founder of Light of Hope Institute. For the last 21 years of his life, Dr. Wright was a resident of Arizona. As a figurehead in the local community, he served in several capacities, including Chairman of the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency; member of the Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board; President of the Fountain Hills Kiwanis Club; and President of the Arizona African Society.

This legislation is cosponsored by all members of the Arizona Congressional House Delegation: Reps. The proposed rule further augments the unprecedented surge in illegal crossings at our southern border and the Biden administration’s failure to address the crisis it created dismantling the previous administration’s successful border security policies.

“The proposed rule represents a blatant violation of the laws passed by Congress,” the members write. “It ignores the mandatory detention requirements of aliens claiming asylum through mass parole, violates the principles of separation of powers, and inappropriately shifts the roles of asylum screeners and immigration courts."

“In a year when we have seen record apprehensions at the Southwest border, the proposed rule would serve as yet another pull factor for illegal migration, while failing to advance the interests of the American people. Accordingly, we consider the proposed rule to be illegal and unconstitutional. We strongly oppose the proposed rule and urge the Departments to work with Congress to make any changes to the immigration process through legislation.”

“This proposed rule clearly violates the law in an attempt to fulfill President Biden’s campaign promise of an open border. Instead of proposing to reinstate a regulated version of 'catch and release', the Departments should faithfully enforce the laws as written by Congress,” said Congressman Andy Biggs. “President Biden created a crisis at the border on his first day in office by systematically undoing President Trump’s successful policies. This proposed rule is simply the latest action by the Biden administration to weaken our border security and allow illegal entrants from more than 100 nations into our country.”

“This is a blatant violation of the laws passed by Congress. In a year where we have surpassed 1.5 million apprehensions at the southern border, the proposed rule will only lead to more illegal migration for an already overwhelmed immigration system. We strongly oppose the Biden Administration’s reckless attempt to unconstitutionally rewrite the asylum laws in America. The changes the administration is proposing cannot come from unelected bureaucrats, but rather from Congress. I thank my colleagues for joining in this effort.” - Senator Ron Johnson.

“The Founders entrusted Congress, not unelected bureaucrats, with the sole power to legislate. Members of Congress are accountable to the people, and can be voted out of office. Bureaucrats are not nearly as vulnerable or accountable. Despite alleged expertise, when bureaucrats craft law, their short-sightedness or their own interest all too often overshadow what would be best for Americans. Antitrust regulators must be able to recognize when heavily subsidized, government-owned companies harm competition, particularly when China uses SOEs to acquire U.S. assets such as critical technologies.

“Our nation’s economy works best for consumers, workers, and businesses alike when competition is fair and the playing field is level. Those destinations include educational institutions, employment centers, entertainment amenities as well as the airport. The extension also will link the West Valley to high-capacity transit as a convenient and reliable travel option.

1.6-mile extension will connect the current end-of-line located at 19th Avenue and Dunlap to Metrocenter Mall at approximately 29th Avenue and Dunlap. The extension is unique: it will reach its destination via a bridge over the Interstate 17 highway and terminate at the region’s first elevated light rail station platform. This week served as an important reminder of that need – high wind advisories in Kern County caused Valley Fever to be a greater-than-normal threat in our community given that strong winds are notorious for kicking up the fungal spores that cause Valley Fever, making cures and a vaccine all the more important” said Rep. McCarthy. “As we continue to recover from a global pandemic resulting from viral respiratory illness COVID-19, we must refocus our efforts to better address fungal lung diseases, such as Valley Fever, which can complicate COVID-19 response efforts. Senate Republican leadership has signaled an unwillingness to provide the necessary votes to overcome the filibuster and raise the limit again, setting up another potential showdown and corresponding market turmoil.

The United States has never defaulted on its obligations to pay its accrued debt—nearly $8 trillion of which was accrued under President Donald Trump. Not paying the government’s bills would diminish the full faith and credit of the United States, throw global markets into turmoil, plunge the country into a recession and threaten the economic security of millions of Americans at a time when the country is just beginning to recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.

The White House Council of Economic Advisors warns that “a default would fundamentally hinder the Federal government from serving the American people,” and it could take decades for the country to recover. Tens of millions of people could lose the regular Federal payments that help them to make ends meet, such as Social Security and Medicaid, overnight. The basic functions of the Federal government—including maintaining national defense and the public health system—would be hindered.

But right now, markets and consumers are being hurt by the ongoing threat of a default.

Economists are warning that just the uncertainty during this extended standoff can impact borrowing terms and borrowing availability, and that lenders may start tightening their standards in advance to reduce their risk—which could cause a cascading financial crisis on its own. As seen in the run-up to and aftermath of the 2011 debt ceiling crisis (where the country ultimately avoided a default), market risk measures rose persistently, and measures of consumer confidence and small business optimism weakened. Rates for mortgages, auto and personal loans, and other consumer financial products all rose.

In 2011, after a prolonged debt ceiling crisis similar to the current one, Standard & Poor’s removed the United States government from its list of risk-free borrowers for the first time, explaining: “The downgrade reflects our view that the effectiveness, stability, and predictability of American policymaking and political institutions have weakened at a time of ongoing fiscal and economic challenge.”", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:24:51Z"], ["https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-sends-letter-president-biden-demanding-answers-border-crisis", "Congressman Biggs Sends Letter to President Biden Demanding Answers On Border Crisis", "2021-10-08", "2021", "2021-10", "Republican", "House", "AZ", "Andy Biggs", "B001302", "biggs.house.gov", "biggs", "https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "Today, Congressman Andy Biggs and 33 of his colleagues sent a letter to President Biden demanding answers about his administration’s handling of the border crisis and its failure to reimplement the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) as ordered by Judge Kacsmaryk.

“It is well past time for President Biden to acknowledge the border crisis that he has created and enforce laws to secure the border,” said Congressman Andy Biggs. “Biden has worked overtime to erase Trump administration policies and programs, like Remain in Mexico, that were securing our border and discouraging illegal immigration. By addressing this abusive delay tactic, the bill would aggressively lower drug prices through competition by generics and biosimilars without having an impact on the effectiveness or safety of prescription drugs.

• H.R. 2884, the Affordable Prescriptions for Patients Through Improvements to Patent Litigation Act, is aimed at lowering drug prices for a particularly high-cost type of prescription drug called a “biologic” by helping to facilitate the entry of generic versions of such drugs, or “biosimilars.” This bill addresses a variation on product hopping, referred to as “patent thicketing”—a practice of some original manufacturers to strategically obtain a large number of patents under circumstances suggesting that the true goal may be to stall generic competition. Such patent thicketing presents a challenge for a biosimilar applicant to realistically enter the market. H.R. 2884 would limit the number of patents that can be asserted to protect a single biologic drug.

• H.R. 2883, the Stop Significant and Time-wasting Abuse Limiting Legitimate Innovation of New Generics Act or the “Stop STALLING Act,” targets an abusive delay tactic that branded drug companies use to block generic competitors from entering the market. This delay tactic—also called citizen petition abuse—sets off a chain reaction of higher drug prices, less competition, and fewer innovative drugs. The Stop Stalling Access to Affordable Medications Act ends this practice by prohibiting the use of sham petitions to block generic entry. This legislation strengthens the ability of the Commission to challenge citizen petition abuse in court—striking the right balance by deterring anticompetitive delays while protecting the legitimate use of citizen petitions.

• H.R. 2891, the “Preserve Access to Affordable Generics and Biosimilars Act, strengthens the Federal Trade Commission’s ability to challenge anticompetitive pay-for-delay agreements in court. Pay-for delay agreements occur when a brand-name pharmaceutical drug company pays a competitor to keep a generic or biosimilar version of its drug off the market as part of a patent settlement. These deals delay access to cost-saving generic and biosimilar drugs and cost consumers and the government billions of dollars in higher prescription drug costs. Under the bill, a pay-for-delay agreement is presumed illegal unless the drug companies involved can convince a judge by clear and convincing evidence that the agreement is pro-competitive.

The bills now head to the full House for consideration.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:17:01Z"], ["https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-introduces-freedom-mandates-act", "Congressman Biggs Introduces the Freedom From Mandates Act", "2021-09-27", "2021", "2021-09", "Republican", "House", "AZ", "Andy Biggs", "B001302", "biggs.house.gov", "biggs", "https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "Today, Congressman Andy Biggs, and 21 of his colleagues, introduced the Freedom from Mandates Act to block President Biden’s vaccine mandates:

“The federal government may not force the American people to get a vaccine against their will. Greg Stanton introduced an amendment to the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act to include justice for victims of radiation exposure in Mohave County, Arizona and Clark County Nevada—a continuation of his work on this issue.

The area is home to many “Downwinders,” people who lived downwind of nuclear test sites or reactors and were exposed to the fallout of U.S. government nuclear tests from 1945 to 1962.

“Downwinders and advocates in Arizona have been fighting for justice and recognition for many years, and their stories are a painful reminder of the long-term medical and financial impacts of radiation exposure. It’s past time we fix this oversight,” Stanton said.

Stanton introduced the Downwinders Parity Act of 2021, which would update RECA to include all of Mohave and Clark counties as affected areas and instruct the Attorney General to submit a report to Congress outlining what efforts will be undertaken to educate and conduct outreach to those made newly eligible.

In March, at Stanton’s urging, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the impacts of radiation exposure for Downwinders––the first time in two decades that victims in the Southwest were given an opportunity to speak before a House committee on the urgent need for justice to their communities.

The House will vote on full passage of the NDAA this week.

Background

This National Day of Remembrance for Downwinders, January 27, 2021, marks the 70th Anniversary of the first atmospheric nuclear test at the Nevada Proving Ground test site, approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada.

When the injuries were discovered, Congress attempted to make amends on behalf of the nation by passing the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act to establish a trust fund for partial restitution to individuals who have contracted certain cancers and other serious diseases that can be directly attributed to the radiation exposure from the nuclear weapons testing.

Occasionally, the police worn body cameras show a law enforcement error. There is further movement to put cameras in school classrooms. Too often what is really happening in our schools is hidden from parents.

This trend to bring transparency and honesty should also apply to Congress. For example, in January of 2021, several members of congress made false and defamatory allegations that other members of congress gave “reconnaissance tours” on January 5. A body camera would demonstrate the confabulation of such a story.

The lack of transparency in Congress is driving public trust in government to near-historic lows. The best way to restore that trust is through total transparency and sharing with the American people what really happens in Washington, DC. Less secrecy from our leaders is a good place to start.

That’s why today I introduced a resolution to create a pilot program that would require the leadership of the House of Representatives to utilize body-worn cameras and ensure that the cameras are activated while carrying out official business. David Schweikert (AZ-06), Greg Stanton (AZ-09), Michael Waltz (FL-06), and Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-03) introduced the Paws Off Act, legislation that will promote safe labeling requirements for pet safety. Recent reporting has shown an increased use of the sugar alcohol, xylitol, in common household products. This chemical ingredient is extremely toxic to pets when ingested and can cause death or serious illness. Lack of proper labeling and the growing prevalence of xylitol in items such as mints, baked goods, desserts, vitamins, gum, and several other items has made it difficult for pet owners to decipher which products are safe for their pets.

This legislation would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to require foods containing xylitol to be considered mislabeled unless it includes a warning label specifying its toxic effects. This would be done through a rulemaking process within one-year of enactment.

“With roughly 50% of American household’s owning one pet or more, it is vital that families be informed of the dangers many basic items and products can pose to their animal’s lives,” said Rep. Schweikert. “Late surveys conducted by the FDA have shown that an overwhelming majority of pet owners are unaware of the existence of this toxin in their everyday items. Grijalva.

“For millions of American households our pets are family. And no family should lose a beloved dog because they didn’t realize a breath mint or toothpaste may be safe for human use but create a toxic reaction in dogs,” said Sara Amundson, President of Humane Society Legislative Fund. “Preventing these tragedies is why we support the PAWS Off Act, and we thank Representative Schweikert and his bipartisan cosponsors for introducing this critical federal bill.”

“Ensuring pet owners are aware of the products and household items that pose a threat to their pets is a critical component of animal welfare,” said Dr. José Arce, American Veterinary Medical Association President. “Despite the deadly harm xylitol presents to dogs and other pets, it is frequently not listed in the ingredient label in products we use on an everyday basis. The ITC has the power to ban products from entry into the U.S. marketplace and this power has been persistently abused by patent licensing entities, more commonly known as patent trolls, which buy up patents with the sole intent of using them to extract profits or stifle competition.

The legislation will help modernize the ITC and its processes to ensure that resources are properly directed toward advancing America’s interests and protecting our industries, workers, and consumers. Specifically, the bill:

Establishes an appropriate “domestic industry” standard, which would require that a U.S. company cannot be used as a plaintiff/complainant unless they voluntarily join a complaint requesting the ITC’s relief. The Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights must not be used as a political weapon to single out states that have enacted policies with which the Biden administration disagrees. The Department’s Office of Civil Rights is tasked with the mission of ensuring equal access to education for all students and should not be used to target masking policies that have been enacted at the state and local level.

On Sunday, August 22nd, you appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd to discuss the issue of mask mandates in schools as students prepare to return to the classroom and in-person learning this fall. During your appearance on Meet the Press, you stated that the Office of Civil Rights at the Department of Education was “prepared to launch investigations…to ensure that all students have access to the fundamental right of education” and would target state and local governments that have prohibited school districts from enforcing mask mandates. A week after you issued your threat on Meet the Press, the Office of Civil Rights opened investigations into Iowa, South Carolina, Utah, Oklahoma, and Tennessee’s policies barring local school districts form mandating masks. Your effort to interfere with state and local policy determinations on how to return students to in-person instruction this fall is inappropriate and will not be tolerated.

In an interview with The New York Times, you also offered an absurd interpretation of civil rights law to support your decision to use the Office of Civil Rights to investigate states that have prohibited mask mandates in schools. In the interview, you stated that “I’ve heard those parents saying, ‘Miguel, because of these policies, my child cannot access their school, I would be putting them in harm’s way,’…And to me, that goes against the fundamental beliefs of educators across the country to protect their students and provide a well-rounded education.” To argue that permitting unmasked children in the classroom is a deprivation of access for others, and that specific deprivation of access is a civil rights violation, makes a mockery of legitimate civil rights violations that rightly deserve to be investigated and prosecuted. It cannot be that providing parents with the freedom to choose whether their child wears a mask in school represents a civil rights violation for other students. If this logic was accepted, a universal mask mandate for schools in all 50 states would be necessary. The argument you have advanced is without merit and cannot be used to justify an intrusion by the federal government into state and local decision-making in determining how to return students safely to in-person instruction.

State and local governments across the country have worked tirelessly to implement safety measures to return students to in-person instruction this fall. Any attempt by the Department of Education or President Biden’s administration to interfere in this process is inappropriate and will not be tolerated.

Sincerely,

Andy Biggs

Member of Congress", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:17:01Z"], ["https://gosar.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=4555", "Gosar Announces Youth Drug Prevention Grant for the City of Yuma", "2021-08-31", "2021", "2021-08", "Republican", "House", "AZ", "Paul A. (AZ-04) issued the following statement after introducing the “Laughlin/Bullhead Airport Land Conveyance Act,” legislation that would transfer approximately 10 acres of land from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to Mohave County for the Mohave County Airport Authority’s use of operating the airport and providing related services.

“Everyone living in Federal land states understands the hardships that a checkerboard of old disconnected pieces of federal land has on a community’s ability to attract investment, modernize and create jobs. That is certainly the case with these 10 acres of land in Mohave County.

More than half of this parcel of land sits inside the airport security fence and should have been transferred to the county 30 years ago when the airport was founded. It only makes sense that the airport own and control this property. Finally, after many years, we have been able to resolve outstanding jurisdictional confusion and are moving forward with this bill to make the land ownership clear and free BLM from continued management of this piece of property,” said Congressman Gosar.

In the 1980’s and 1990’s, much of the land that makes up the current Laughlin/Bullhead Airport was consolidated under the ownership of Mohave County. However, a ten-acre parcel was held by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) and not included in the parcels owned by the county. The parcel was then transferred to BLM, where it has resided since. Last year, while working on runway maintenance, the Airport Authority was required to apply for a new lease of the property from the BLM to secure financing. While that lease was processed, the experience highlighted the unnecessary burden created by the fractured land ownership. This act will consolidate the land with Mohave County and the Airport Authority. Importantly, the bill is requested and supported by the Mohave County Airport Authority.

The following map depicts the federal lands that would convey to Mohave County:

BACKGROUND:", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:11:17Z"], ["https://gosar.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=4566", "Gosar on Afghanistan Attack: "We Mourn the Loss of Life and Strengthen Our Resolve to Get Our People Out of Afghanistan"", "2021-08-26", "2021", "2021-08", "Republican", "House", "AZ", "Paul A. I am incredibly grateful for their service to our country and my heart goes out to the families of the fallen who bravely gave their all trying to protect Americans abandoned in Afghanistan.

We mourn the loss of life and strengthen our resolve to get our people out of Afghanistan.

While questions concerning the details of the terrorist attack remain, one fact is clear: the deaths of these soldiers are the direct result of Mr. Biden’s disastrous method of withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. This was wholly preventable. Mr. Biden’s decision to pull American soldiers out before evacuating American citizens and equipment has sadly led to the predictable loss of American lives. In 2019 the House Armed Services Committee was informed about the presence of ISIS-K. The reckless manner this withdrawal was undertaken is nothing short of gross negligence and pure incompetence, and it has resulted in the panic and now death. In 2013, though, the Supreme Court gutted the law in Shelby County v. In July 2021, the Court further weakened the law in its decision in Brnovich v. DNC which made it more difficult to challenge discriminatory voting laws under Section 2.

After the Supreme Court weakened voting rights protections, state legislatures across the country passed a series of restrictive voting laws that disproportionately suppress turnout among minorities, Tribal communities, young adults and the elderly––including efforts in Arizona to chip away at the state’s effective vote-by-mail program.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore the full protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. We are in the midst of a national security and humanitarian crisis at our southern border; mass amnesty will exacerbate the devastation and chaos.

In this fiscal year alone, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has encountered more than 1.1 million aliens, with June numbers reaching a 20-year high with 188,829 apprehensions. This increase is a direct result of policy changes by the Biden administration and the Democrat campaign promise of amnesty.

The more Congress and the White House push for amnesty, the more illegal aliens will come to the United States in the hopes of receiving it. Democrats are signaling that they are not serious about enforcing our laws and that it's worth it to pay the drug cartels to cross the border in the hopes of being here for the next round of free citizenship handouts.

Granting amnesty does not just provide a pathway to citizenship to those currently here illegally, it opens the door for millions of immigrants who otherwise would not have a legal pathway to the United States. Based on the 1986 amnesty, an average of five legal immigrants were added to the U.S. population for each illegal alien who received amnesty. On the heels of a pandemic, adding millions of new workers into the job market, and to our bloated welfare and entitlement programs, would certainly devastate our economy.

The budget reconciliation process should not be abused as a tool to appease open-border activists. The United States is a nation of laws – granting amnesty to those who violate them is an affront to all law-abiding Americans.

People all over the world want to come here because we respect the rule of law, and the law applies to all equally. This is what separates us from the banana republics that others want to flee. Granting amnesty to those who have broken the law and putting them on a path to citizenship is unfair, will encourage more illegal activity, and will impose significant challenges for hurting American families. Instead of rewarding illegal aliens who have broken our laws, we should focus on the crisis on our border, the abuse of our asylum process, and actually enforcing the law.

Any move toward amnesty jeopardizes our sovereignty and undermines our ability to provide opportunities for those who truly seek freedom and respect our values.

Sincerely,

Andy Biggs

Member of Congress

Co-Chair, Border Security Caucus

Brian Babin, D.D.S.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:03:51Z"], ["https://gosar.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=4498", "Gosar Introduces National Environmental Policy (NEPA) Process Accountability Act", "2021-07-30", "2021", "2021-07", "Republican", "House", "AZ", "Paul A. Current law only includes certain felonies and some crimes.

Today, more than ever, we must do everything possible to close loopholes in laws that allow criminal activity to occur without consequences. My legislation gives codified guidance to the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to remove non-citizens who break our laws,” Gosar said.

“The Biden administration’s open-borders policy is inviting violent criminals into the U.S. I’m grateful that Congressman Gosar is introducing the Criminal Alien Removal Clarification Act in the House to help deport dangerous criminals who are putting American communities at risk every day,” stated Senator John Kennedy.

"NumbersUSA is pleased to support Congressman Gosar’s Criminal Alien Removal Clarification Act. Convicted criminal aliens should be removed from our country so they can no longer victimize Americans or legal immigrants. This bill would make our neighborhoods safer,” said Rosemary Jenks, Director, Government Relations, NumbersUSA.

“President Biden, Secretary Mayorkas, and Democrats on Capitol Hill have one objective on our issue – a borderless nation with virtually no enforcement of immigration laws, including the deportation of criminals. Congressman Gosar and Senator Kennedy are trying to do the opposite. Their bill is a reasonable solution that would keep American communities safe. We’re proud to support it,” added RJ Hauman, Government Relations Director, Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

“The America First Policy Institute supports Rep. Paul Gosar’s efforts to protect American citizens and communities by clarifying the conditions under which criminal aliens can be removed from the United States. Current statutory language is unnecessarily complicated and has provided federal judges with the ability to create truck-sized loopholes in the executive branch’s ability to enforce federal immigration law, the net result of which is criminal aliens remaining free on our soil and hurting Americans. This straightforward proposal is an important first step toward restoring our national security and public safety,” added John A. Tom Reed (NY-23) and Rep. Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) in introducing the Energy Sector Innovation Credit (ESIC) Act, a bipartisan energy tax proposal to encourage innovation in the clean energy sector to help rapidly scale-up and diversify new technologies.
Original co-sponsors of the House legislation include Rep. Tom Reed (NY-23), Rep. Jimmy Panetta (CA-20), Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL-18), Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY-03), and Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ-05).
“I am proud to join this bipartisan effort with my colleagues to promote clean energy technology in the United States,”
said Congressman Schweikert.
“The Energy Sector Innovation Credit is a pro-growth, economically responsible tax credit that will provide a critical opportunity for investment in emerging clean energy technologies, and take us one step forward in achieving energy independence.”
“It is time Congress finally act to mobilize American ingenuity and fully unleash the power of new innovative energy technologies,”
said Congressman Reed
. “We can best do so by passing the Energy Sector Innovation Credit Act, our technology-neutral tax incentive designed to boost the deployment of any cutting-edge clean energy system without the government picking winners and losers. We are proud to reintroduce this critical legislation, and I thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their continued support.”
“To combat the ever-growing climate crisis, we can use the tax code to incentivize clean energy innovation for next-generation technologies,”
said Congressman Panetta
. “Our bipartisan and bicameral Energy Sector Innovation Credit will leverage the ITC and PTC tax credits to bolster new, emission-reducing technologies and motivate existing energy sources to go greener. This bill will provide the tools necessary to support clean energy entrepreneurship and reach our emissions reductions targets more quickly and efficiently.”
“This tech-neutral tax credit will incentivize innovation across the board for new energy technologies,”
Congressman LaHood said
. “Facilitating the expansion of cutting edge energy technologies into the marketplace in a fair and fiscally responsible way is aimed at providing a cheaper, more reliable energy portfolio. This new incentive will strengthen our country’s economic competitiveness, as well as reinforce our leadership in global energy innovation, and I am pleased to join this bipartisan group to introduce this legislation.”
“Protecting our environment and improving energy efficiency are issues that everyone, Republicans and Democrats, can come together on,”
said Congressman Josh Gottheimer
. “I am proud to support this bipartisan legislation, which will lower taxes for wind, solar, and other alternative energy innovators and provide them with incentives to utilize green, efficient, and cutting-edge technology. We need an all-of-the-above approach, focusing on every option that can improve energy efficiency for our country.”
Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and U.S. Senate Finance Committee member Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Rhode Island) have introduced identical legislation in the U.S. Senate. Original co-sponsors of the Senate legislation include Senate Finance Committee members John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) and Michael Bennet (D-Colorado) and Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee members Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and John Hickenlooper (D-Colorado).
“If we are to meet long-term emissions targets without sacrificing affordable electricity, we need to invest in on-the-horizon technologies that can accomplish our environmental goals, create good-paying American jobs and meet our energy demand,”
Senator Crapo said
. “ESIC will incentivize technology-wide clean energy innovation so new, clean technologies can rapidly scale up and compete independently in the market. Moreover, ESIC automatically scales down credits as technologies’ market penetration ramps up, so taxpayer dollars do not subsidize market-mature technologies. The U.S. is a leader in energy production because our robust economy allows for innovation and pathways to clean energy solutions, and I will work to get this legislation across the finish line.”
“Major investments in innovative clean energy technologies are needed if we’re going to make a difference in the race against climate change,”
Senator Whitehouse said
. “Our bipartisan legislation will accelerate nascent clean technologies that have the potential to compete against heavy-polluting forms of energy and create good jobs in the process.”
Background:
The Energy Sector Innovation Credit is a technology-inclusive, flexible investment tax credit (ITC) or production tax credit (PTC) designed to promote innovation across a range of clean energy technologies, including generation, storage, carbon capture and hydrogen production. ESIC:
Promotes clean energy innovation by allowing up to a 40 percent ITC or 60 percent PTC for low market penetration technologies across a range of energy sources, including renewables, fossil fuels, and nuclear.
Phases out credits as technologies mature, which provides an on-ramp for the most innovative technologies to get to market and then compete on their own, rather than allowing Congress to pick winners and losers when temporary credits expire.
Groups technologies substantively different from one another as determined by experts at the Department of Energy (DOE), national labs and other stakeholders.
Provides flexibility for unforeseen clean energy technologies to be eligible for ESIC by including an expedited-consideration provision for Congress to take up new technology recommendations from DOE.
ESIC is supported by a number of industry groups, including ClearPath Action, Idaho Falls Power, the Evangelical Environmental Network, the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, the U.S. Nuclear Industry Council, the Nuclear Energy Institute, Carbon180, Bipartisan Policy Center Action, The Nature Conservancy, American Conservation
