If so, please do not hesitate to contact authorities: call 911 if it's urgent, call 311 if it is not urgent.\n\nGovernor Roy Cooper has declared a State of Emergency as Hurricane Helene bears down on North Carolina. Parts of our district are experiencing flooding, heavy winds, property damage, and at least one person has died.\n\nI am praying for all those affected by this storm, and am working continuously to make sure the federal government provides everything it can to help those still in danger.\n\nI am asking all residents and businesses to prioritize safety and take necessary precautions. Stay out of standing water. Charge phones and laptops while you can.
