Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) this morning hosted the Fourth Quarter Adams Hunger Initiative meeting, engaging with stakeholders on key food and agriculture policy issues, focusing on ensuring food security for all. Rep. Adams regularly convenes this \u201ckitchen cabinet\u201d with the goal of ending the \u201cchronic crisis of hunger.\u201d\n\n\u201cBoth the end of the year and the holiday season prompt us to consider the blessings that we have to be grateful for \u2013 not least given how central food is to celebrating during this holiday season,\u201d said Rep. Adams. \u201cBut it also casts into clear focus how fair access to food in this country and, indeed, in the district, has become a privilege, and that is shameful.\u201d\n\nRep. Adams highlighted the Initiative\u2019s successes of the past year, including hosting Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-02) this past June, whose tireless efforts have been pivotal to reducing hunger in America, calling him a \u201ca true anti-hunger hero in the House.\u201d She also stressed the need to defend programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), critical to feeding families, from proposed cuts and lapses in funding.\n\nThe event included a focus on Rep. Adams\u2019 Farm Bill proposals which include addressing hunger, promoting equality in funding of land-grant HBCUs, support for Black farmers and other farmers of color, and urban agriculture.\n\n\u201cYou can\u2019t be healthy if you\u2019re hungry,\u201d Rep.
