However,on October 9, 2020, the Trump Administration updated theCDC'sguidance to allow landlords to challenge tenant declarations and initiate the eviction process, undermining the agency's original order andcreating new burdens for renters seeking protection.\n\nWhile significant rental assistance is desperately needed to prevent a long-term housing crisis,extending the CDC's halt on residential evictions during COVID-19 andrescindingthe updated guidance would provide urgently needed relief,said Congresswoman Adams.With cases increasing across the country,it is critical thatthe CDCtakeevery possible stepto protect vulnerablerentersfrom the related threats of homelessness and COVID-19.\n\nIt is critical that CDC put a hold on evictions wherever possible until President-elect Biden and his team have an opportunity to put their housing emergency plans in place,said Congressman Clay.\n\nReps.
