Aderholt", "A000055", "aderholt.house.gov", "aderholt", "https://aderholt.house.gov/media-center/press-releases", "scraper", "Offers Continuing Support of Local, State, and Federal Agency Coordination and Relief Work on the Ground\n\nWashington, D.C.\u2014 Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Homeland Security for the House Committee on Appropriations, today issued the following statement one-year after tornadoes devastated communities across Alabama and the Southeast:\n\n\u201cAs we remember one-year ago today, my thoughts and prayers are with all those that were affected by the devastating storms that ripped through our state and changed our lives forever,\u201d said Aderholt. \u201cHowever the damage, destruction and loss of life that was suffered on April 27, 2011, did not break us.\u201d\n\n\u201cIn the wake of such devastation, we came together. The unprecedented storms brought unprecedented coordination between first responders and emergency teams, elected officials and government agencies, and countless relief and faith-based organizations. There were neighbors helping neighbors and oftentimes strangers helping strangers.\u201d\n\n\u201cWith such wide-spread, expansive devastation last April, I believe it is important we look what weather conditions that caused this major storm system to hit the southeast in the manner that it did. I was able to include language in the Appropriations bill to research the weather conditions in the south that created these tornadoes one-year ago. My hope is this research will help us better prepare for severe weather and avoid another year of devastating storms like we experienced in 2011.\u201d\n\n\u201cWhile there is still work to be done, we\u2019re on the road to recovery and we\u2019re on it together. I\u2019m encouraged by the relief efforts that continue on the ground, as well as the coordination between all officials involved in this recovery process.
