I am pleased that this year\u2019s NDAA \u2013 which passed by a 335-78-1 vote \u2013 includes my amendment providing for a Government Accountability Office (GAO) study of the marketplace for cyber risk insurance, particularly as it impacts small businesses,\u201d said Congressman Al Green. \u201cThis study, to be conducted by the Comptroller General, will assess and analyze the state and availability of insurance in the U.S. for cybersecurity risks. With so many stressors on small and minority businesses already, and the rise in cyber threats \u2013 including crippling ransomware attacks \u2013 striking businesses of all sizes, this study and the insights it will yield are imperative and timely.\u201d\n\n\u201cAt its conclusion \u2013 no later than 180 days past the enactment of the NDAA, the Comptroller General would submit the study\u2019s findings in a report to Congress with recommendations regarding appropriate federal intervention with respect to cybersecurity insurance.
