In the weeks before Ms. Tuyisenge\u2019s passing, Mr. Mason contacted Rep. Ansari\u2019s office seeking assistance in obtaining expedited travel authorization for Ms. Tuyisenge\u2019s sister who was traveling from Kigali, Rwanda.\n\nBecause of Ansari\u2019s actions, her sister\u2019s visa was approved a month later, and she was able to travel to attend her funeral and support Ms. Tuyisenge\u2019s son, Guy, whom Mr. Mason has adopted.\n\n\u201cAs a Representative, one of the most important functions of my office is doing constituent casework. While I am heartbroken that Ms. Tuyisenge passed away before her sister could be by her side, I am grateful my office was able to help ensure her sister could come to the United States to be with her family, honor her sister\u2019s life, and support her nephew during such a difficult time,\u201d said Rep. Ansari.\n\n\u201cThank you for all of your support. I\u2019m hopeful that Melanie\u2019s attendance at the funeral will bring the family some peace. We are grateful Melanie can be here for the service. It will be good for Guy, Petronille\u2019s son, to get some time with his aunt as well. We greatly appreciate everything you have done.
