Arrington", "A000375", "arrington.house.gov", "arrington", "https://arrington.house.gov/press-releases", "scraper", "Washington, D.C. \u2013 Today, House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) spoke on the House floor in celebration of Texas Tech\u2019s historic Big 12 Championship season and College Football Playoff berth.\n\nClick HERE to watch\n\nRemarks as Delivered:\n\nAs we say in West Texas, \u2018SUN\u2019S UP, GUNS UP!'\n\nOur Texas Tech Red Raiders have gone through this football season, guns a-blazing, and have taken the Big 12 by storm, posting a historic 11-win regular season with an average victory margin of more than 35 points and their best year since 2008.\n\nNow, after securing their first outright Big 12 championship, the Red Raiders are knocking on the door of their first-ever national championship.\n\nI want to congratulate Coach Joey McGuire, his tremendous staff, and the outstanding student-athletes there at Texas Tech, all of whom represent the spirit of West Texas\u2014tenacious, relentless, and a hundred percent class and character.\n\nMr. Speaker, Texas Tech, I would argue, is America\u2019s team.\n\nIt\u2019s a Main Street university in middle America, made up of mostly kids from working families.\n\nIt\u2019s a heartland culture that reflects our nation\u2019s traditional faith and family values.\n\nLike our pioneering fathers who braved the harsh elements to settle the Great Plains of West Texas, Red Raiders know how to work, how to fight, and never quit.\n\nThey don\u2019t expect anybody to give them anything.\n\nThey don\u2019t waste time complaining about being underrated or underestimated.\n\nThey know that respect is earned, not given\u2014and they know it\u2019s not about pleasing the crowd or the pundits. It\u2019s about giving their best to each other, and to themselves, and to their university that they love.\n\nI\u2019m proud to be a Red Raider.
