Scott. \u201cWhile I am very happy with the first major overhaul of our tax code in over thirty years, there is still a lot of work to be done getting our economy back on track, and I look forward to continuing to work with the Trump Administration and my colleagues in Congress to expand our economy, grow wages, and ease burdensome federal regulations.\u201d\n\nHighlights of the bill include:\n\nLowers individual tax rates for all Americans;\n\nSignificantly increases the standard deduction from $6,500 to $12,000 for individuals and from $13,000 to $24,000 for married couples;\n\nEliminates special-interest deductions;\n\nEliminates the Affordable Care Act\u2019s (ACA) individual mandate tax;\n\nEstablishes a new Family Credit, which includes expanding the Child Tax Credit from $1,000 to $2,000;\n\nPreserves the Earned Income Tax Credit and the home mortgage interest deduction for existing mortgages and maintains the home mortgage deduction for newly purchased homes up to $750,000;\n\nLowers the corporate rate to 21%, down from 35%; and,\n\nReduces the tax rate on small business to no more than 29.6%.\n\nClick here for policy highlights of the Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 1 - Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.\n\n-30-", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T22:19:19Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://austinscott.house.gov/press-releases?ID=119836C7-392E-468F-8961-18D65BFE6E18"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7920570205897093, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
