I introduced this legislation\u00a0after meeting with Gold Star\u00a0spouses and families in Nebraska, and learned of their personal challenges and the gaps\u00a0in current law.\u00a0As a Commander in the Air Force, I\u2019ve seen firsthand the pain Gold Star families feel when they lose a loved one, and as a Congressman, I\u2019ve learned of the ways Gold Star families are disenfranchised.\u00a0The core of this bill is about commitment, a commitment for life, and ensuring as a legislative body we support our\u00a0Gold Star\u00a0families and\u00a0extend to them a small measure of compassion, dignity, and respect that their tremendous sacrifice deserves.\u00a0I\u2019m glad to see the House of Representatives support our Gold Star families by passing this bill.
