Don Bacon (NE-R) today responded to the announcement that Eppley Airport will receive a $20 million Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.\n\nBacon voted in favor of the legislation last November, which will allocate $550 billion for roads and bridges, railroads, broadband access, power grid repair, water systems projects, public transportation, airports, and seaports. The other half of the bill\u2019s funding, approximately $650 billion of unspent COVID-19 funds, includes reauthorization of the Highway Trust Fund, Inland Waterways Trust Fund, and others which provides dedicated funds from existing taxes and fees for infrastructure that would automatically be spent with or without the bipartisan infrastructure bill.\n\n\u201cThis is tremendous news and a big win for our district,\u201d said Bacon. \u201cOur aging infrastructure is falling behind our main competitors, which is why I voted in favor of the infrastructure bill. This FAA grant will help speed up reconstruction efforts, stimulate employment, and help pave the way for future projects at our airport, including expansion of the facilities to better serve our growing region and number of travelers.\u201d\n\nThe FAA announced the list of 91 projects that will be awarded funding under the FY2022 Airport Terminal Program. These grants have been awarded to 91 projects in 43 states, one being awarded to Eppley Airport.\n\n\u201cThe Omaha Airport Authority is pleased to be the recipient of $20 million in Airport Terminal Program funding from the Federal Aviation Administration via the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,\u201d said Dave Roth, Chief Executive Officer of the Omaha Airport Authority. \u201cWe are grateful to Congressman Bacon for his leadership in the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This grant funding will create numerous benefits for travelers from Omaha and throughout Nebraska.
