A conference committee resolves the differences between Senate and House versions of the same bill, and this is Rep. Bacon’s fourth consecutive appointment. Rep. Bacon previously served on the FY18, FY19, and FY20 NDAA conference committees.

“I want to thank Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy for selecting me as a conferee to the NDAA conference committee as this is one of Congress’ most important constitutional responsibilities,” said Rep. Bacon. “As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I have worked with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to craft bi-partisan, defense legislation that restores America’s military readiness.”

To do this, Rep. Bacon believes in modernizing nuclear deterrence, including the TRIAD and replacing 400 ICBMs. With 20 percent of the United States Air Force’s budget going to non-Air Force related programs, Rep. Bacon is committed to creating more transparency and informing wise investment of taxpayer dollars. He also believes we need to be prepared for future pandemics by improving medical surge capacity and making our nation’s top health care facilities such as UNMC a global leader. Another top priority of his is to focus on reconstruction efforts at Offutt Air Force Base which is a top employer for Nebraska’s Second District. This will strengthen the base to be more resilient than it was prior to the 2019 spring floods.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and believe we must protect our service members and equip them with the necessary resources and assistance,” added Rep. Bacon. “I plan to work with the Senate and do everything in my power to get this to the President’s desk.”

“The experience Don brings to the conference committee is truly unparalleled. He served three decades in the Air Force, served multiple overseas tours, rose to the branch’s highest ranks, and earned numerous decorations for his leadership. We are grateful for his service. Since coming to Congress, he has championed a stronger military and fought to empower troops and their families. Don understands America is worth fighting for and never forgets the sacrifices associated with service. Based on his distinguished record, Don will deliver a strong NDAA to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law,” said Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.

###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-06-28T00:39:51Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://bacon.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=566
