Instead, it would require social media companies to divest ownership from Communist China, North Korea, and other adversaries if they wish to do business in the U.S.\n\n\u201cCommunist China cannot have free rein to push its agenda on the American people and manipulate our children,\u201d said Rep. Baird. \u201cApps like TikTok have an immense impact on public discourse in our country and should not be controlled by our adversaries. This legislation is not an outright ban.
