I look forward to taking their views back to Washington to do the work that matters most to them,\u201d said Barrett. \u201cFrom lowering costs to standing up for local control and ending endless wars \u2014 I\u2019ve heard their concerns firsthand, and I\u2019ll never stop fighting to make sure the voices of the people I represent are heard in Congress.\u201d\n\nFirst, Barrett visited Michigan Paving and Materials in Lansing, whose workers produce asphalt and pave roads across the region. Barrett met with plant employees and highlighted how the no tax on overtime provision and federal investments in local infrastructure are supporting their industry and the communities they serve.\n\nBarrett then toured the Clinton County Road Commission and met with local leaders about efforts to improve roads and bridges and strengthen cooperation between federal, state, and county governments to support safe and reliable transportation. Barrett has made rebuilding infrastructure a priority in Congress; he\u2019s secured more than $15 million for mid-Michigan infrastructure projects and voted for the BUILD America 250 Act in the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to extend and strengthen federal infrastructure funding programs.\n\nBarrett also visited Clinton Transit, where he met with leaders, dispatchers, and drivers responsible for helping residents get to work, medical appointments, grocery stores, and other destinations across the community. The BUILD America 250 Act would also strengthen support for transit systems like Clinton Transit.\n\nIn Durand, Barrett and the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership hosted a roundtable at Great Lakes Fusion with local business leaders, who discussed strengthening the local economy, helping small businesses provide health insurance for their employees, promoting skilled trades education, and supporting workers.\n\nBarrett then visited Lake Trust Credit Union in Brighton, where he met with the team about their work to help residents save for the future and access financing to buy homes or start small businesses. They also discussed Barrett\u2019s work in Congress to lower costs and make homeownership more attainable for Michigan families.\n\nThe congressman also toured TG Fluid Systems in Brighton, a key supplier to Michigan\u2019s automotive industry.
