Moore focused his opening statement and witness questions on new challenges facing veterans and the need for Congress to continue exploring new ways to address the problem of veteran homelessness while performing proper oversight of existing programs and spending.\n\nAfter receiving an invitation from Moore, Lula Skowronek with Veterans Priority in Alabama testified to the subcommittee and answered questions from Moore and other members of the subcommittee about the innovative programs Veterans Priority is using to help Alabama\u2019s homeless veterans.\n\n\u201cWhile we have made great strides in reducing veteran homelessness, the pandemic and now the inflation driven by the Biden\u2019s administration\u2019s policies have created new challenges for our veterans that Congress must address. We must commit to the difficult work of determining the right mix of programs and spending while performing the oversight necessary to ensure taxpayer dollars are being used effectively.
