This facility will be used to provide housing services to Kentuckians in substance abuse recovery. For over three decades, Shepherd\u2019s House has provided multiple recovery programs to rehabilitate dozens of people in recovery per year. Shepherd\u2019s House received this grant award through the Kentucky Opioid Response Effort (KORE).\n\n\u201cThis grant award is a tremendous boost to Shepherd\u2019s House and a testament to the results they have been able to produce in helping so many Kentuckians bounce back from addiction,\u201d said Congressman Barr. \u201cI supported this grant project, and I will continue to support Shepherd\u2019s House going forward because they are an invaluable asset to our community as we fight to defeat the opioid epidemic together.\u201d\n\n\u201cShepherd\u2019s House is grateful for this grant and opportunity to use these funds to build on the success of our organization,\u201d said Jerod Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shepherd\u2019s House. \u201cI want to extend my appreciation to Congressman Barr and his team for their support and assistance in receiving this grant as well as their partnership on previous grant efforts.\u201d\n\n\u201cKORE is happy to support the establishment of additional recovery community centers to build on our infrastructure of support services in Kentucky,\u201d said Dr. Katherine Marks, KORE Project Director. \u201cRCCs provide an array of services that help individuals get the support they need within their own communities to build recovery capital and sustain long-term recovery. We are grateful for Shepherd\u2019s House and the City of Nicholasville for partnering with us to expand access to evidence-based recovery services in the Commonwealth.\u201d\n\nKORE is administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services with federal funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Congressman Barr voted for H.R. 1865, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, which appropriated the HHS funding used for this grant.\n\nThe announcement of the KORE grant marks the second major grant Congressman Barr supported to Shepherd\u2019s House in 2020.
