Thompson (D-MS) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation, through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has awarded more than $3.1 million in Airport Infrastructure Program (AIP) grants to airports across Mississippi\u2019s Second Congressional District. These federal investments will support critical airport improvement projects aimed at enhancing safety, supporting aviation operations, and extending the useful life of essential airport infrastructure.\n\nThe following awards were announced:\n\nCarthage-Leake County Airport \u2013 Carthage, MS\n\nAmount: $404,519\n\nConstruction of a new 9,500 sq. ft. sponsor-owned hangar for aircraft storage, helping the airport become more self-sustaining.\n\nRuleville-Drew Airport \u2013 Drew, MS\n\nAmount: $506,988\n\nConstruction of a new 2,013-foot paved Taxiway A to meet current FAA standards.\n\nGrenada Municipal Airport \u2013 Grenada, MS\n\nAmount: $595,646\n\nReconstruction of Runway 13/31 and Taxiway A lighting and signage, replacing infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life.\n\nFletcher Field \u2013 Clarksdale, MS\n\nAmount: $150,000\n\nInstallation of a new Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) Type III-P/T to provide accurate, site-specific weather information.\n\nC.A. Moore Airport \u2013 Lexington, MS\n\nAmount: $106,099\n\nReconstruction of the existing soil foundation to address erosion control issues at the end of their useful life.\n\nIndianola Municipal Airport \u2013 Indianola, MS\n\nAmount: $97,800\n\nReconstruction of 120 feet of perimeter fencing and gates, along with improvements to the Taxiway A safety area.\n\nGreenville Mid-Delta Airport \u2013 Greenville, MS\n\nAmount: $186,000\n\nRehabilitation of 2,000 feet of Taxiway B pavement. This grant funds the first phase of the project, which consists of design.\n\nHawkins Field \u2013 Jackson, MS\n\nAmount: $158,334\n\nRehabilitation of 133,333 square yards of west apron pavement.
