Cali\u2019s painting, entitled Cumulus Clouds, was selected by a panel of three judges who praised the piece as a \"lovely, straight-forward composition with good use of color relationships\u201d. Cali will travel to Washington, D.C. to see her artwork displayed in the national student art exhibit in the U.S. Capitol and attend a reception in her honor.\n\n\"I am extremely happy to congratulate Cali on this terrific achievement. I look forward to seeing Cumulus Clouds each day as I walk to and from the House Chamber. I want to thank her for this incredible piece \u2013 Congratulations, Cali!\" - Rep. Bentz.\n\nBentz also announced three regional winners from Oregon\u2019s Second District. Each regional winner will have his or her art displayed in one of Congressman Bentz\u2019s offices in Medford, OR, Ontario, OR, or Washington, D.C.\n\n1) The Seeds of Growth by Shayna Giron-Lopez, Phoenix High School, grade 11\n\n2) Lily Cat by Rowen Wiley, Phoenix High School, grade 10\n\n3) Slow Your Roll by Brissa Bauer, Phoenix High School, grade 11\n\nCongressman Bentz also thanked the judges for the 2023 competition. \u201cI am very thankful to the judges who volunteered their time and expertise to our district's art competition,\u201d Bentz said. \u201cThey helped make this year's competition not just memorable but also a great success.\u201d The judges for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition in Oregon\u2019s Second Congressional District were:\n\n1) Kim Hearon, Executive Director, Rogue Gallery & Art Center, Medford\n\n2) Cody Bustamante, Professor of Painting and Drawing, Southern Oregon University, Ashland\n\n3) Michael Sell, Associate Professor of Art, Eastern Oregon University, La Grande\n\nThe Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide program for students to showcase their artistic abilities and highlight the importance of art education.
