Meeks (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Tom Cole (R-OK), Chairman of the House Rules Committee.\n\n\u201cThe People\u2019s Republic of China\u2019s persistent use of economic coercion poses a threat to regional stability in the Indo-Pacific, while eroding the sovereignty and economic well-being of our closest partners and allies,\u201d said Representative Ami Bera, who serves as Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific. \u201cIn the previous Congress, we proactively addressed Beijing\u2019s economic coercion by passing my bill, the Countering China Economic Coercion Act, which established an interagency task force dedicated to tackling such practices. I am proud to continue these efforts this Congress through the Countering Economic Coercion Act of 2023, which has now passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee with strong bipartisan support.
