For years, the CCP has sought to expand its influence abroad, gain access to sensitive American technology and research, dominate critical supply chains, and pressure Taiwan. I will always support policies designed to protect the United States from these vulnerabilities and strengthen America\u2019s ability to compete with China on the world stage.\u201d\n\nIn 2019, Chinese government officials sent a letter to Congressman Biggs, requesting that he \u201cnot make any contact with officials of Taiwan.\u201d This aggressive outreach took place around the time of the 40th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act, when Congressman Biggs attended a celebratory reception in the Phoenix area.
