Roosevelt signing the Social Security Act into law by visiting Hampton Senior Center. The Social Security program, including Social Security Disability Insurance, protects our seniors, veterans, children and people with disabilities. The program ensures beneficiaries can pay rent, buy groceries, and fill their prescriptions.\n\n\u201cPeople across the country rely on the Social Security benefits they have earned,\u201d said Congressman Scott. \u201cI had a good conversation with seniors today about how Social Security has enabled them to pay their bills and retire with dignity. In light of Project 2025 and ongoing efforts by Republicans to weaken or cut Social Security, I will remain steadfast in my support of this vital program.\n\nThere are over 140,000 Social Security recipients in Virginia\u2019s Third Congressional District who receive monthly benefits.\n\nCongressman Scott is a cosponsor of the Social Security 2100 Act, which would strengthen Social Security by making sure the wealthy pay their fair share and it would improve benefits for recipients.
