The winning artist's artwork will be on display for one year in the U.S. Capitol.\n\n\u201cI\u2019m always amazed at how incredibly gifted Colorado\u2019s Third Congressional District\u2019s students are,\u201d said Congresswoman Boebert. \u201cColorado has some of the most talented artists in the nation, and I encourage them to take advantage of this remarkable opportunity to showcase their work in a national exhibit.\u201d\n\nBackground:\n\nThe Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.\n\nLast year, Arianna from Centennial High School in Pueblo won Colorado\u2019s Third Congressional District\u2019s 2021 Congressional Art Competition.\n\nInterested students should review 2022 Rules for Students and Teachers and complete the 2022 Student Release Form.\n\nQualifying Students: Any High School Student in Colorado\u2019s Third Congressional District.\n\nHow to Submit Artwork: Students must have mailed or delivered their artwork to their respective Third Congressional District Regional Office by April 27, 2022. (Mailing addresses available at Boebert.house.gov). The 2022 Congressional Art Competition deadline has passed. The 2023 Congressional Art Competition will open next spring.\n\nGrand Junction Regional Office includes schools in: Mesa, Delta, Montrose, Ouray, Gunnison, Pitkin, Lake, Eagle, Jackson, Routt, Garfield, Rio Blanco, and Moffat Counites\n\nPueblo Regional Office includes schools in: Pueblo, Huerfano, Costilla, Conejos, Alamosa, Rio Grande, Mineral, Saguache, and Custer Counties\n\nDurango Regional Office includes schools in: La Plata, Archuleta, Montezuma, San Juan, Dolores, San Miguel, and San Juan Counties\n\nWinners: Winners will be announced in May. The winning artist's artwork will be on display for one year in the U.S. Capitol.\n\nArtwork Requirements: Artwork must be two-dimensional. Each framed artwork can be no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. If your artwork is selected as the winning piece, it must arrive in Washington, D.C., framed. Even when framed, it must still measure no larger than the above maximum dimensions. No framed piece should weigh more than 15 pounds.\n\nAccepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:\n\nPaintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.\n\nDrawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (It is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.)\n\nCollages: must be two dimensional\n\nPrints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints\n\nMixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.\n\nComputer-generated art\n\nPhotographs\n\nEach entry must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate U.S. copyright laws.
