Lauren Boebert and Dan Bishop led several of their colleagues in introducing the Securing Americans from Transportation Insanity Act to prohibit the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from jeopardizing national security in the name of woke, transgender policy.\n\nRep. Lauren Boebert stated, \u201cIf you doubt the Biden regime is on a woke crusade to remake America in its own image, then look no further than the TSA\u2019s new trans screening policies. Decreasing pat-downs and identity validation measures for people identifying as transgender might validate delusional leftists, but it does nothing for passenger safety. In fact, they are practically inviting terrorists to take advantage of our weak and woke security systems. The TSA literally has one job\u2014and this isn\u2019t it.\u201d\n\nRep. Ralph Norman said, \u201cSecurity is not a gender issue, it\u2019s a safety issue. Allowing woke transgender policy to dictate TSA processes sets a dangerous precedent.\u201d\n\nRep. Byron Donalds stated, \u201cDemocrats are engaging in a relentless crusade against our nation's fabric and the values that make us exceptional. Look no further than promoting biological males competing in female sports, teaching gender fluidity and identity in elementary school, and now removing gender identification from security screening procedures by the TSA. I am proud to stand up against this lunacy and support the Securing Americans from Transportation Insanity Act to prohibit this extreme ideology that threatens our national security and rejects science.\u201d\n\nRep. Bob Good said, \u201cThe leftist woke agenda is a threat to our national security! First, it was throwing open our Southern Border \u2013 now it\u2019s the security of our airports. Making travel \u2018gender-neutral\u2019 is not only ridiculous and unscientific, it makes it harder to keep us safe. The government\u2019s job is to protect Americans \u2013 not liberal\u2019s feelings.\u201d\n\nRep. Matt Gaetz stated, \u201cThe TSA\u2019s newly announced \u2018gender-neutral screening process\u2019 doesn\u2019t enhance the state of our national security, it diminishes it. Wokeness makes America unsafe. I am cosponsoring Rep. Lauren Boebert and Rep. Dan Bishop\u2019s common-sense bill because the comprehensive safety and security of our country comes first.\u201d\n\nBackground:\n\nIn honor of a made-up transgender holiday, the TSA made a mockery of airport security by announcing that \u201ctransgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming\u201d passengers will receive special treatment to make airline screening more \u201cinclusive.\u201d\n\nIn order to make transgender passengers more comfortable, the TSA announced that it will \u201c[reduce] the number of pat-down screenings\u2026for [transgender] passengers who trigger the AIT scanner in a sensitive area.\u201d\n\nAdditionally, the TSA will direct its officers not to consider a traveler\u2019s biologically determined sex when verifying their identity. Furthermore, the TSA PreCheck program will be updated to allow travelers to select their gender as \u201cX\u201d when enrolling.\n\nThe TSA also announced that it will use the full power of the federal government to coerce private air carriers to begin using the \u201cX\u201d gender marker.\n\nCo-Sponsors of Rep. Boebert\u2019s and Rep. Bishop\u2019s Securing Americans from Transportation Insanity Act include Reps.
