Congress's response? A $2.3 trillion COVID-omnibus bill that includes: language to further Green New Deal policies, millions of dollars to build two new Smithsonian museums, and a provision regarding the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama, just to name a mere fraction of the ridiculous provisions outlined in this bill.\n\nInstead of doing the right thing by offering a lifeline to working Americans with targeted relief, Congress has resorted tostrapping our future generations with an insurmountable amount of debt.\n\nI would have supported targeted relief to help small businesses and individuals who need it most, and a plan to distribute the vaccine to the most vulnerable, but this bill clearly misses the mark. With just under eight hours to read the 5,593-page bill, I cannot, in good conscience, vote for this legislation that spends billions of taxpayer dollars on pet projects that have nothing to do with COVID relief or keeping the government funded,\" Rep. Buck said. \n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://buck.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/rep-ken-buck-objects-23-trillion-coronavirus-relief-and-omnibus-bill"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7857191376388073, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
