Absent this legislative language, these benefits are set to expire at the end of December.\u00a0\n\u201cWhile I understand this is not a permanent solution, it is a step in the right direction that makes sure retirees do not lose their health benefits. I\u2019ve long been working with retired miners, industry leaders, and Congressional leadership to develop a more permanent solution to this impending problem facing Hoosier retirees and will continue working to get one.\n\u201cLet\u2019s also not forget why we are in this position. Unfortunately, President Obama and his allies in Washington, DC have waged a regulatory assault on coal that has devastated the industry and the jobs and benefits it supports.
