Earl L. \u201cBuddy\u201d Carter (R-GA) that would have required the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to disclose any attempts at political censorship.\n\nH.Res.1264 comes after more than a dozen confirmed attempts from Washington Democrats since 2021 to infringe on the First Amendment right to free speech by advocating for and participating in censorship of private companies, under the guise of fighting \u201cdisinformation.\u201d\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s appalling, but not surprising, that House Democrats are trying to hide their attacks on free speech,\u201d said Rep. Carter. \u201cThe FCC works for the American people and should be upfront about whether they are involved in politically-motivated censorship.
