Earl L. \u201cBuddy\u201d Carter (R-GA) gave the following statement after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today issued a major disaster declaration for counties impacted by Hurricane Debby, including several in Georgia\u2019s First Congressional District (GA-01):\n\n\u201cI am glad FEMA approved this necessary funding for Georgia counties impacted by Hurricane Debby. After touring flooding in Richmond Hill, it became clear that these funds were urgently needed to help residents rebuild their homes and businesses. Today\u2019s major disaster declaration officially puts GA-01 on the road to recovery,\u201d said Rep. Carter.\n\nThis announcement comes after Rep. Carter led the entire Georgia Congressional Delegation in a letter to the White House, in which the members expressed \u201cfull support of Governor Brian Kemp\u2019s request for a major disaster declaration for the counties in the state of Georgia significantly impacted by Hurricane Debby, which caused severe damages beyond the combined capabilities of our state and local governments\u2019 ability to respond.\u201d\n\nThe Major Disaster Declaration releases federal funds for:\n\nIndividual Assistance for Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Long, and Screven Counties.\n\nPublic Assistance for Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Berrien, Brantley, Brooks, Bryan, Bulloch, Burke, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Chatham, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Cook, Echols, Effingham, Evans, Jeff Davis, Jenkins, Lanier, Long, Lowndes, McIntosh, Pierce, Screven, Tattnall, Thomas, Tift, Toombs, Ware, and Wayne Counties.\n\nIndividuals in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Long, and Screven Counties can apply with FEMA the following ways:\n\nApply online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.\n\n2. Constituents may call the application phone number at 1-800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585).\n\nIn light of Tropical Storm Helene\u2019s potential landfall in GA-01 this week, Rep.
