Earl L. \u201cBuddy\u201d Carter (R-GA) today sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon urging an immediate review of the National Junior College Athletic Association\u2019s (NJCAA), California Community College Athletic Association\u2019s (CCCAA), and Northwest Athletic Conference\u2019s (NWAC) policies that allow biological males to compete in women\u2019s sports.\n\nIn the letter, Rep. Carter writes: \u201cAs recently reported by The Washington Times, junior colleges \u2018still welcome transgender athletes\u2019 in women\u2019s divisions\u2026These policies raise substantial concerns regarding fairness, safety, and equal athletic opportunity for women.\u201d\n\nRep. Carter continues: \u201cThis permissive approach appears inconsistent with Title IX\u2019s requirement that federally funded institutions protect equal opportunities for female athletes\u2026 Protecting the integrity of women\u2019s sports is a core civil rights obligation.
