(06/08/2026) -- Today, Congressman Burchett\u2019s (TN-02) bill, the Government Audit and Accountability of Federally Funded State-Administered Programs Act, passed the US House of Representatives.\n\nThe bill, co-led with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), will establish a program in the office of the Comptroller General (GAO) to produce a recurring assessment of federally funded State-administered programs. This assessment will identify programs and administrative practices most vulnerable to the abuse of federal tax dollars.\n\n\u201cI\u2019m tired of turning on the TV and seeing the misuse of Americans\u2019 hard-earned tax dollars,\u201d said Congressman Burchett. \u201cAs trillions of taxpayer dollars flow to state and local governments, every dollar must be safeguarded against waste, fraud, and abuse.
