Tim Burchett (TN-02) to discuss their votes to remove Speaker McCarthy from his position.\n\n\u201cMatt is a friend of mine who works hard and isn\u2019t afraid to make tough decisions, and here in Washington that\u2019s a rare trait,\u201d said Rep. Burchett. \u201cWe didn\u2019t take this vote lightly, and I\u2019m glad we could have a real conversation about what happened so the American people can hear it directly from us instead of just hearing the mainstream media spin on it.\u201d\n\nRep. Gaetz offered a motion to vacate the chair on October 3, 2023, which would remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his position. The House voted in favor of the resolution, with Reps. Gaetz and Burchett joining six other Republicans to pass the motion.\n\nRep.
