His prepared remarks are below:\nCongressman Byrnesaid:Mr. Speaker, I rise today with sadness in my heart to honor Officer Bill Clardy III of the Huntsville Police Department.\nOfficer Clardy, a decorated 14-year veteran of the department who also served with distinction in the Iraq War, was tragically shot and killed recently during a drug investigation.\nOfficer Clardy was assigned to a strategic counterdrug team called the STAC team, leading a task force of federal and local law enforcement agencies to make drug busts across north Alabama. \nSadly, the Clardy family knows well the sacrifices of service. Officer Clardy's father, Billy Clardy, Jr., was killed in a car crash while on duty in 1978.\nWe owe it to Officer Clardy not to forget him or his sacrifice. His reputation for service  and for caring for his community  is unmatched.\nHe was a Huntsville hero and he is an American hero, and he will be greatly missed.\nOur thoughts, prayers and support are with the Clardy family.\nWe embrace you with our love, we offer you our support, and we pledge to you we will not forget his sacrifice.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://byrne.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/byrne-remembers-officer-bill-clardy"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4656558632850647, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
