The bill will waive passport fees for the families of members of servicemembers going to visit that family member in a hospital or medical facility during their service abroad.\n\n\u201cThe last thing military families need is added stress and expense when going to visit their loved one in a time of illness or injury,\u201d said Carey. \u201cAs a veteran myself, I understand that families serve, too. We\u2019re proud to lead this bipartisan bill to support our military families when they\u2019re needed most.\u201d\n\nThe bill is co-led by Representative Abigail Spanberger (VA-07).\n\n\u201cWhen a parent, spouse, or sibling receives the dreaded phone call that their loved one has been injured in combat, that family member should not have to worry about the extra cost of obtaining a passport to be by their side.
