The COCOA Act, which codifies the requirement that states allow congressional staff to observe election administration procedures, was signed into law after passing the House of Representatives late last month.\n\nThe bipartisan bill was cosponsored by House Committee on Administration Chairman Brian Steil (WI-01) and Rep. Joseph Morelle (NY-25).\n\n\u201cI\u2019m proud the COCOA Act, which will codify the long-running Congressional Observer Program, is now signed into law,\u201d said Rep. Carey. \u201cThis will give Americans confidence that their vote is counted with fairness and integrity.\u201d\n\nThe long-running, nonpartisan Election Observer has trained congressional staff to provide an additional level of accountability during close election contests.\n\nCarey has been a congressional leader on the issue of election integrity. Last month in the House Committee on Administration, Carey questioned Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose on the influence of foreign nationals in Ohio elections.
