{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://case.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2179", "Case To Join Welcome Of Hokulea To Juneau, Alaska This Weekend", "2023-06-08", "2023", "2023-06", "Democrat", "House", "HI", "Ed Case", "C001055", "case.house.gov", "case", "https://case.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx?DocumentTypeID=27&Page=13", "scraper", "(Washington, DC) \u2013 U.S. Congressman Ed Case (Hawai\u2018i \u2013 District 1) will join the arrival of the H\u014dk\u016ble\u02bba at Auke Bay in Juneau this Saturday as the iconic Polynesian voyaging canoe and crew continue their historic circumnavigation of the Pacific.\n\n\u201cOur country is a Pacific nation, and together with my home state of Hawai\u2018i\n\nand the rest of our Pacific Islands \u2018ohana, we continue to embrace this historic journey by the Polynesian Voyaging Society as H\u014dk\u016ble\u02bba pursues its four-year voyage around our Earth\u2019s largest ocean and our cultural home,\u201d said Case.\n\nCase, a member of the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources and its Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries, with jurisdiction over U.S. oceans policy, will welcome the H\u014dk\u016ble\u02bba when the voyaging canoe arrives at Auke Bay in Juneau. The bay sits on the traditional lands of the A\u2019akw Kw\u00e1an \u2013 the \u201cSmall Lake People\u201d \u2013 said to be the first peoples to inhabit the area north and south of Juneau.\n\nPrior to welcoming H\u014dk\u016ble\u02bba, Case will tour U.S. Coast Base Seattle and Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound, both in Washington State, as well as Coast Guard Stations Juneau and Sitka in Alaska.\n\n\u201cAs a member of our House Appropriations Committee\u2019s Subcommittee on Homeland Security, with jurisdiction over the Coast Guard, I am responsible for overseeing and funding the worldwide capabilities and activities of this unique service charged with our nation\u2019s maritime security, search and rescue and law enforcement duties. This is especially important at this time of heightened focus on the Indo-Pacific,\u201d said Case.\n\nAside from touring land facilities and meeting with Guardsmen, Case will join Coast Guard cutters at sea and a MH-60 helicopter crew out of Coast Guard Air Station Sitka, from where the recent operation was staged to locate and rescue five people onboard a charter fishing boat that sank off the coast.
