That is why, I asked my colleagues to stand with me and affirm that the Burmese military's actions were genocide against the Rohingya people and that the Burmese government's imprisonment of two Reuters journalists is patently unjust. I applaud my colleagues for standing with me and passing this important humanitarian legislation.\r\nThe legislationdoes the following:\r\nCondemns the attacks against civilians by Burma's military and security forces.\r\nConsiders the actions by the Burmese military against the Rohingya in northern Rakhine State in 2017 to be genocide.\r\nCalls on State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint to pardon Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo and other journalists and political prisoners.\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://chabot.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398860"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.7697399016469717, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
