The NDAA is critical for the defense of our country and I look forward to working with fellow conferees to ensure our service men and women have the resources they need to defend our nation. As the Natural Resource Committee representative for the conference, I will also fight to maintain provisions I had included in the House bill that are important to Wyoming, like the provisions that support operations at F.E. Warren and a restriction on removing the Bells of Balangiga from Wyoming.
- I sent a letter to Senator John McCain and to Secretary of Defense Mattis regarding the Bells of Balangiga, requesting his support for Section 2841 of the House-passed version of the National Defense Authorization Act. Wyoming veterans have served for years as the caretaker and defender of this memorial to fallen American soldiers. I will continue to fight to keep the bells at F.E. Warren and ensure the provision I was able to include in the NDAA will remain during it’s passing to protect the wishes of our veterans. Zinke highlighted all the important steps the Trump administration has taken to help support our coal industry, including the repeal of the Clean Power Plan, ending the moratorium on coal leases on public lands, and moving to repeal and replace WOTUS. Secretary Zinke also discussed steps underway to look at the possibility of using decommissioned military facilities on the west coast as export terminals for our coal. Click here to read more about the Coal Caucus’ Accomplishments: https://goo.gl/RYQv4B
- I applaud the State Department for announcing its intention to withdraw from The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). UNESCO has long been a haven for anti-semitism and anti-Israel bias at the UN and the Trump administration was right to withdraw the United States from membership.
- I applaud President Donald Trump’s executive order that directs federal agencies to allow the sale of health insurance plans across state lines. Congress needs to repeal and replace the harmful and disastrous Obamacare. Obamacare resulted in high premiums, less choice for consumers, and lower quality for care, folks in Wyoming deserve better and President Trump’s executive order is headed in that direction.
- On Friday, I participated in the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources legislative hearing for the ONSHORE Act. This bill promotes domestic energy independence by handing power back to the states to manage the development and production of oil and gas on federal lands. A part of the ONSHORE Act is the State Revenue Protection Act, a bill I introduced this year to give Wyoming back the two percent of royalties the federal government has been withholding from our state. These funds are crucial to communities across Wyoming and to our state budget. To read more about the hearing click here: https://goo.gl/gn1erP
Constituent Visits
It was an honor to speak and take a selfie with this year’s Rumsfeld Foundation fellows this week. Warren Air Force Base. Click here to read more: https://goo.gl/BM8jd8
Last weekend I got the chance to visit Camp Guernsey. I took part in a windshield tour and was able to tour the simulator building and training ranges. I was also able to meet and speak with the Cadets from the Wyoming Cowboy Challenge Academy, a program that provides a safe, structured, and educational environment for at-risk teens to gain life skills to succeed and become productive Wyoming citizens.
It was also an honor to be a part of Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan F. I want to thank him and his family for their service in the United States Military.
The Local Literary
Read more about my visit and speech at the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Congress.
“Congressman Cheney serves on the Armed Services Committee and speaking with Partners of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce today affirmed her resolve to continue to fight in Washington for the needs of F.E. Warren Air Force Base, local military and the people of Cheyenne and Wyoming. Cheney also expressed her pride regarding the cooperation of Senators Enzi and Barrasso. She further identified that Wyoming is unlike most States because of their collaborations.
Cheney also relayed that there is room for Tax Reform among bi-partisan members to actually help the middle-class. The new reform would change the current seven-tier tax bracket to a three tier bracket and lower corporate tax to 20%.”
Click here to read the full article: https://goo.gl/UMxQLc", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://cheney.house.gov/media/newsletters/congressman-cheneys-october-13th-newsletter
