Following the announcement of street releases on Wednesday, the congressman sent a letter to Secretary Mayorkas highlighting the devastating impacts the border crisis has had on his district and urging action from the agency.\n\n\u201c[Our rural communities] are not equipped to deal with this influx,\u201d\n\n\u201cOur local border communities should not be forced to bear the burden of this administration\u2019s failed border policies.\u201d\n\nThe congressman continues, \u201cI have personally heard from local elected officials of both parties regarding their concern over these actions and the implications on their communities. This is not a partisan issue \u2013 you must stop politicizing our border and start prioritizing it.\u201d\n\nCongressman Ciscomani requested answers to the following questions surrounding the capacity issues:\n\nAre Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) detention centers at capacity? If so, when did they reach capacity?\n\nIf these numbers continue or increase, what plan is in place to process the number of migrants?\n\nWhat are you doing to increase capacity either in permanent or temporary facilities both for CBP and ICE?\n\nHow many migrants have been released onto the streets this fiscal year?
