With recent reports indicating a court challenge, FERC is the lead federal oversight body responsible for ensuring the development of safe, reliable, secure, and efficient natural gas infrastructure,\u201d wrote Congressman Higgins.\n\n\u201cThe project would produce as much as 27.6 million tonnes/year of LNG for export and support 7,000 jobs,\u201d continued Congressman Higgins. \u201cThe project was subject to vigorous regulatory review from FERC, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Additionally, FERC and Driftwood have held public meetings and debates on the impact of the project and extensive mitigation measures outlined in the project that ensure the protection of Louisiana wetlands.
