Over the summer, he helped introduce the bipartisan and bicameral National Flood Insurance Program Reauthorization (NFIP-RE) Act of 2023, which would reauthorize the program for five years and provide greater stability for homeowners and small business owners.\n\n\u201cFlood insurance for Louisiana home and business owners is an unfortunate necessity. Many rely heavily on the NFIP to protect their livelihoods,\u201dsaid Congressman Higgins. \u201cSince coming to Congress, I have worked with bipartisan and bicameral colleagues to advance a reauthorization bill that ensures Louisiana residents are well protected from flooding. Congress should not allow this important program to lapse.
