The bill was authored by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) and co-sponsored by Congressman Higgins.\n\nThe Atchafalaya National Heritage Area stretches across 14 parishes and provides support for the region\u2019s cultural heritage, increases national attention to the area through tourism, and enhances the ecological habitats and wildlife species.
