We have broken the yoke of unrighteous law and followed God\u2019s Commandment to honor our Mothers and Fathers,\u201d said Congressman Higgins.\n\nCongressman Higgins has been one of the strongest and most vocal advocates for the bill, which repeals the unjust Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) that penalize millions of public workers across the United States.\n\nFor seven years, Congressman Higgins has advocated for passage of the Social Security Fairness Act. He has been a co-sponsor of the legislation in every Congress that he has served.\n\nHis efforts include:\n\nDecember 14, 2017 \u2013 Co-sponsored the Social Security Fairness Act for the 115th Congress.\n\nJanuary 17, 2019 \u2013 Co-sponsored the Social Security Fairness Act for the 116th Congress.\n\nFebruary 1, 2021 \u2013 Co-sponsored the Social Security Fairness Act for the 117th Congress.\n\nAugust 16, 2022 \u2013 Made a personal plea to Speaker Pelosi urging a vote on the Social Security Fairness Act.
