While I have always said that Continuing Resolutions are an awful way to govern, a shutdown of the federal government—and all the critical services it provides to America’s children, families, and seniors—is simply unacceptable.

“For that reason, I would have supported the legislation to prevent another harmful shutdown had I voted today. Now, it is imperative that lawmakers across the political spectrum come together, negotiate in good-faith, and pass a bipartisan budget that will meet the needs of our communities. I look forward assisting in achieving that goal when the House returns to Washington.”

###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T23:46:48Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://cleaver.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/rep-cleavers-statement-support-continuing-resolution-avoid-another
