Clyde", "C001116", "clyde.house.gov", "clyde", "https://clyde.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx?DocumentTypeID=27", "scraper", "WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014Today, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) introduced the Medicaid Funds Integrity Act to prohibit Medicaid funds from being used to finance so-called \u201cgun violence prevention\u201d programs.\n\nIn September, the Biden-Harris Administration announced new executive orders directing federal agencies to advance its anti-gun agenda. Among other measures, the Administration stated the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will allow states to use Medicaid to pay for counseling on \u201cfirearm safety.\u201d Several liberal states, including California, Connecticut, and New York, have passed legislation allowing Medicaid to reimburse such services.\n\nRep. Clyde\u2019s Medicaid Funds Integrity Act would bar federal Medicaid dollars from funding these so-called \u201cgun violence prevention\u201d programs.\n\n\u201cAmericans\u2019 hard-earned tax dollars have no place furthering the Left\u2019s unconstitutional gun control agenda,\u201d said Clyde. \u201cRather than supporting law enforcement and empowering lawful gun owners, liberal states are determined to divert federal Medicaid dollars to fund false \u2018violence prevention\u2019 programs. As responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars and relentless defenders of the Constitution, Congress must step in to stop this flagrant misuse of federal funds aimed at infringing law-abiding Americans\u2019 Second Amendment liberties.\u201d\n\n\u201cGun Owners of America is proud to support Rep. Clyde's efforts with this legislation. Programs like this are bound to be weaponized by anti-gun administrations, which is exactly what we saw over the last four years.
