Weiss. St. Jude also received a $277,500 grant in August to study the disease.\n\nCongressman Cohen made the following statement:\n\n\u201cWorking to alleviate the trauma and pain associated with sickle cell disease, which disproportionately affects the Black community, will improve lives.
