Keep reading to learn more about my week and follow me on\u00a0Twitter\u00a0and\u00a0Facebook\u00a0to see these updates as they happen.\n\t\t\t\tHonoring Our Nation\u2019s Veterans  Helping Small Businesses Learn About Federal Government Contracts  Thank You for Allowing Me the Opportunity to Serve You in Congress  Helping Memphians Get Covered  Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive (FINI) Grant Program  Weekly Health Tip  2017 U.S. Capitol Historical Society Calendars Are Available\n\t\t\t\tHonoring Our Nation\u2019s Veterans\n\t\t\t\tTomorrow is Veterans Day when we gather to remember the sacrifice and courage of the servicemen and servicewomen who have fought to safeguard the many freedoms that Americans hold dear. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at BRIDGES, I will be hosting my 8th annual Veterans Day BBQ Luncheon to honor our veterans in Memphis. I have also been working with the Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure Memphis hires the best director possible for the Memphis VA Medical Center. We should do all we can to help Veterans receive the timely, high-quality health care they deserve.\n\t\t\t\tHelping Small Businesses Learn About Federal Government Contracts\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tOn Monday, I hosted my 2016 Federal Procurement Fair for Small Businesses. During this time, small businesses in Memphis learned about doing business with the federal government as well as networked with other small businesses.\n\t\t\t\tThank You for Allowing Me the Opportunity to Serve You in CongressIt is an honor to serve the 9th District and its citizens in Congress. I look forward to continue fighting for better and more affordable healthcare, voting rights, criminal justice and drug policy reform, college debt relief and other issues important to Memphis. Visit\u00a0my website for more information on getting covered for 2017. \u00a0\n\t\t\t\tFood Insecurity Nutrition Incentive (FINI) Grant Program\n\t\t\t\tThe United States Department of Agriculture is seeking applications for grants to increase purchases of healthy fruits and vegetables by low-income families\u00a0participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The federal funding will be awarded to eligible nonprofits and governmental organizations that demonstrate a successful track record of nutrition programs and develop innovative systems that can be replicated by other underserved communities. For more information on this grant program, click\u00a0here.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\tWeekly Health Tip\n\t\t\t\tEach week, I will be suggesting a health tip in the hopes of promoting a healthy lifestyle for residents of the 9th Congressional District. As always, it\u2019s best to check with your doctor before making any changes to your diet or exercise routine.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\tThe Center for Disease Control recommends regular check-ups and health screenings for everyone.
