This legislation authorizes $862.6 billion for our nation\u2019s national defense, in order to build a ready, capable, lethal fighting force to deter our adversaries and protect our homeland. After the legislation passed the House of Representatives, Congressman Cole released the following statement:\n\n\u201cDuring this time when our nation is facing so many threats from our adversaries, protecting our nation\u2019s defense must remain a top priority.
