Her winning app is called \u201cLearn Your Sounds!\u201d It is intended to be an educational tool to help early learners or students with disabilities learn sounds and words.\n\n\u201cI want to congratulate Jay on winning the 1st District 2018 App Challenge. Her app is not only an impressive technological creation, but a tool to help future generations achieve educational success. Jay\u2019s coding and precision are great examples of the inventiveness and intelligence of students throughout the 1st District. Technology is vital to this district, state and country, and competitions like these are important for our country and the future,\u201d said Congressman Comer.\n\n\u201cTwo years ago, our school district was one of the first in the nation to offer the new AP Computer Science Principles course. We use MIT\u2019s App Inventor as part of our class and the Congressional App Challenge fits in well as a class project. Jay Tucker has shown substantial growth in not just coding skills, but also in problem solving and critical thinking and learning how to work collaboratively with her peers. These real-life skills will ensure her success in the future and possibly a career in Computer Science where many jobs are currently going unfilled. Thanks to Congressman Comer and the organizers of the Congressional App Challenge for recognizing and encouraging our students,\u201d said Sonya Kessler, teacher at Campbellsville Independent Schools.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-06-27T23:11:43Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://comer.house.gov/2018/12/congressman-comer-announces-congressional-app-challenge-winner"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5322179533541203, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
