He led a platoon of paratroopers in the invasion of Iraq, followed by two tours in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger.\n\nIn a statement, Congressman Crow said:\n\n\u201cSeptember 11 marks one of our nation\u2019s darkest days, and in that moment, the course of American history changed forever.\n\n\u201cThe attacks claimed the lives of thousands of Americans and thrust our nation into decades of war. We\u2019ll never forget the first responders who ran towards the flames that day. Their bravery and sacrifice represented the best of our nation and continue to inspire us today.\n\n\u201cIn the aftermath of that horrific day, we also saw tremendous resolve. We saw that America is at its best when we come together and answer the call to do something bigger than ourselves. That call led me down a path of service to our country that remains my north star.\n\n\u201cTo my fellow servicemembers who answered the call to serve and left their home and families to defend our nation: thank you.
