Our support doesn't end once they arrive on American soil. The Afghan and Iraqi Allies Resettlement Improvement Act will help us fulfill our promise and ensure our allies can build comfortable, successful lives in America.\n\nThe Afghan and Iraqi Allies Resettlement Improvement Act would:\n\nDirect the Department of Health and Human Services to survey SIV holders as part of their Annual Survey of Refugees.\n\nDirect the Department of State to identify and implement additional ways to deliver information to SIV applicants about life in the United States to assist with their adjustment process.\n\nDirect the Department of Defense and the Department of State to jointly establish and operate a program to offer employment to SIV holders as translators, interpreters, and cultural awareness instructors.\n\nThe SIV program provides lawful U.S. permanent residence for Iraqi and Afghan nationals who are in danger due to their work assisting the U.S. government through service as translators, interpreters, or in other capacities.\n\nThe legislation was endorsed by the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP).\n\nText of the legislation can be found here.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:11:17Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://crow.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-jason-crow-and-colleagues-introduce-legislation-improve"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.3199946843087673, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
