Warren Davidson (R-OH) outlined Chairman Gensler\u2019s abuse of power and failure to protect investors. For these reasons, Rep. Davidson called for the removal of the SEC Chair through a restructure of the Commission.\n\n\u201cTo correct a long series of abuses, I am introducing legislation that removes the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and replaces the role with an Executive Director that reports to the Board, where all authority resides,\u201d said Rep. Warren Davidson. \u201cFormer Chairs of the SEC will be considered ineligible.\u201d\n\nDuring today\u2019s Financial Services hearing, Rep. Davidson outlined the following abuses committed by SEC Chair Gary Gensler:\n\nAbusing rule proposals by averaging more than 2 new SEC rules per month.\n\nInappropriately short public comment periods.\n\nUnworkable, and unlawful, ESG disclosure mandates.\n\nHotel California rules for crypto:\n\nThe ability to check in (with the SEC) any time, but never have the ability to leave (with approval).\n\nEndless discovery with no resolution and no clarity for captives or the market.\n\nAn unworkable proposal for overhauling equity market structure.\n\nA de facto ban on crypto through the proposed custody rule.\n\nFailing to work with Congress.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T23:44:29Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://davidson.house.gov/2023/4/rep-davidson-calls-for-sec-restructure-removal-of-chair-gensler"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.5995243340730667, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
